Ammar Jemal on loan in Cologne

FC holds a purchase option

The Tunisian international Ammar Jemal has left Swiss first division Young Boys Bern to join 1. FC Cologne. The 24-year-old defender comes to Cologne on loan for this season. In addition, FC will have the opportunity to buy Jemal as a purchase option is part of the deal. The new arrival receives the shirt number 3.

'Valuable alternative'

'With Jemal we have gained another valuable alternative for our defence. We are delighted to have realised this transfer in a close cooperation with SportsLab & Scouting and with our team manager Stale Solbakken. Jemal is an option on the left flank and for the central defence. We would particularly like to thank Young Boys Bern and appreciate it a lot that their accommodation enabled the player to take the next step in his career.'

Internationally experienced

With the beginning of the season 2010/2011 Ammar Jemal left the Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel to play for the Young Boys. For the Swiss top division team Jemal made 39 competitive matches and scored 7 times. In the European club competitions he participated in 6 Europa League games and in the Champions League qualifying round he played four times. Besides, Ammar Jemal is a 15 times international for the Tunisian squad (1 goal).
