Anthony Ujah joins FC on loan

'Worthwhile weapon in attack'

With the closing of this summer transfer window 1. FC Cologne have come to an agreement with Bundesliga club Mainz 05 to strengthen the team with attacker Anthony Ujah. The 21-year-old Nigerian is going to play for Cologne on loan for the running season.


Jörg Jakobs, transfer manager:
 'We are delighted to present another new arrival in attack. Anthony perfectly meets our demands on a central forward. He impresses with his agility and his strong finish and can be a worthwhile weapon for 1. FC Cologne in attack.'

The Nigerian had moved at the beginning of the 2011/12 season from the Norwegian first division club Lillestrom SK to Mainz 05. As a whole, he appeared in 12 Bundesliga matches and scored 2 goals. Moreover, Ujah collected 3 caps in Germany's Domestic Cup competition.
